This is a fantastic, and exciting read. I am a writer myself and used this book for research on a book I am working on. As an author, I can promise good things from this work.
This book proposes a different political strategy that doesn't rely on false hopes that the government in Washington, DC can be reformed. It relies on the vertical checks and balances provided by the states. It's called nuliification.
Our Last Hope Rediscovering the lost path to liberty gives the reader an easy-to-understand explanation of nullification what it is, where it came from, how it has been and is being used (and NOT used), etc. The author has clearly done his research. Well documented book - the author provides several sources including the Federalist Papers, the US Constitution and other founding documents.
Through out history the average man and woman have been like farm animals ruled by a king instead of a farmer. Until the United States was formed government
was concentrated in the hands of a few. This concept is very well described in this book. The history of it, the recent success of the tenth amendment
and how we can stop time from repeating itself.
A must read for anyone who is concerned about our nation.
Very well written defense of the Principles of 98 and how nullification has been used to protect liberty. It also exposes a lot of the misconceptions and misnomers often attributed to the principle. A high point, in my estimation, is Maharrey's coverage of the nullification by northern states in the 1850s, responsible for rejecting the callous measures called for by the Fugitive Slave Acts. Maharrey uncovers a hidden reservoir of truth and describes how nullification saved the enslaved from hopelessness.
This is a GREAT book, short and sweet, about the CONSTITUTIONAL concept of NULLIFICATION. This is a real, practical way to rein in and de-fang our out-of-control, rogue Federal government. Available in both print and formats. (And you can get a free reader for almost any smartphone if you don't have a device!)
If you are patriot-minded and want to be more informed this book is for you. It's relatively short and not difficult to read.
